Ernie “Ty” TyRell Williams currently serves as the Associate Director at Restoration Academy and has served for over 23 years. Restoration Academy is a Christ-centered school started in 1988 in response to crime and violence in the urban community by founder Dr. Anthony and Sharon Gordon. Today students in K4 through 12th grade, primarily from at-risk home environments, are able to receive a quality private school education, with a 16 year record of all of it’s graduating seniors being accepted into college.

Ty Williams, is an active advocate in his community who is an alumnus of the inaugural Leadership Trussville class of 2023. Ty has also served as President of the Rotary Club of Trussville Daybreak as well as on the board of Faith Community Fellowship Church. In addition, Ty has served in leadership roles in other organizations such as serving as president of the Alabama Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, president of the Association of Healthcare Executives, National Management Association, past member of the Shades Valley Rotary Club, a past junior board member of the Alabama Kidney Foundation, and has served on the Board of Trustees for Southeastern Bible College.

Prior to working at Restoration Academy, Ty worked for almost 15 years in healthcare administration.  He has held positions at Baptist Health Systems and Blue Cross Blue Shield and served as a physician practice management consultant. Ty also was a consultant with the City of Birmingham Youth Services Department. In addition, he has been active for over 30 years in youth sports as both a high school and park & recreational official.

A native of Meridian, Mississippi, he received his B.A. from Tougaloo College and his M.A. in health administration from the University of Kansas. He has been married to his wife Catherine for 28 years and they have three children, son-James , daughter – Chaney a CPA with Warren Averett (married to – Dre Beneford) and Chase (student at University of Alabama). Ty has been a resident of the Chalkville Community for nearly 30 years.
